Grey Skies

The clouds gather, like warriors in steel,
Dark and dreary? All geared for battle!

I stop, to stare and wonder
Behold the dark and gloomy
The laden grey skies-
Of impending thunders,
Of lightnings, and powerful rains.
And wonder yet again,
The beauty the dull can bring-
Ne’er a brighter green,
Ne’er a more startling white,
Against the backdrop of grey
It is another one of those,
Another my kind of day!

P.S. It is a part of the ‘weird me’, that I love the grey skies, and every time it makes me happy- thinking of the rains it is going to bring. And that feeling I have that it is takes dull grey to make the world come alive, as it enhances in its own unique way every beautiful feature, every bright color, which the sun in all its glory, suffusing the world golden, cannot accomplish. Isn’t it on a dull grey day that you feel like lounging by your window and just staring beyond?

the dots make it beautiful. i like it dark. without the dots. probably a couple of clouds covering it all. a dull moon as if in hibernation. that, is my perfect night. 🙂

  4. Just love being on a beach with clouds looming. If it were raining nothing like it. Stormy sea, thundering waves, pouring rain and dark clouds!! Heaven!!

    Nice verses. Really liked them.

Shrikant, oh, I love the stormy seas. But I am not thinking of the skies then!

Raj, i enjoy gazing at a clear night sky with the stars, on a new moon night.

These verses, however, I wrote at my desk, in lab, in between bench work while staring out of the window. The sun is having an off-day today and we're waiting for a heavy downpour.

so you are in college. and you mentioned a lab, so am guessing something related to science. so should i safely assume you are an electrical engineer?

Hahaha, no I am not in college anymore… I am back in school. I am doing a PhD in Medicine. Hence, lab as in a research lab. It may not seem like but I am a scientist. Sigh!

The rain clouds are always welcomed by everyone.

But yesterday it was thundering so much here, and people were out there on the beach for ganesh visarjan in this with wild rain, its risky near sea. At that moment I realised, Its beautiful when you are dry and safe!

But yea, rain is fun 🙂 My fav season.

Grey, just like people, just like emotions, always there, never right here. Brings out the best and the worst in everything I tell you.

I can only see beauty in the grey for some reason (in all things)… though black is my favorite, and white generally overrated in my opinion (though opposite in people)
