Naked Truth?

No one cares. No one gives a damn. You die, you live, who cares? People are already fighting for space to live, air to breathe, resources to exploit. One down and your chances become so much better. Back-stabbing, double-crossing, double standards, you think that’s bad? Well, you are gullible, you were foolish, how is that anyone else’s fault? Hah! Those things do get the job done, don’t they? The virtuous you, the conscientious you, the principled you… and where are you, when I am cruising along ahead in life? Values and Principles, you say, painstakingly taught? Replaced and replaced well. For the better, oh yes, much, much better! And I am running ahead in the rat-race. Deception, lies, hypocrisy. Oh, I don’t like them either, abhor them in fact, but they do serve your purpose. Everything has a price and if I can find it, success, money is mine. and that’s all that matters. When I have everything, you have only your values, and not a thing more. And that’s all that matters. I’m great when you are not.

[A lesson tried hard to be taught to the idealist me, while subjecting me to it]

N.B. Remembering while laughing. After all, he who laughs last, keeps laughing…. Yup, I’m still the idealist me. Happily.

  3. Guria,
Yep your views would concur for the rat race; but for the long run of life, we would be left with enough monies and big onus of guiltiness…

So expressive in your thoughts 🙂

Very thought provoking post. Many people think that reaching the goal is more important than which path you take to achieve that. I am glad you are still an idealist.

    Quite a thought provoking post.

I guess it is better to be an idealist… than to be the 'head of a fox'…

“After all, he who laughs last, keeps laughing”.

I agree! Didn't people laugh and make fun of Edison… while he was not successful even after 300 attempts… to make the electric bulb work… ???

But what happened after the 301st attempt… ??? Viola! He was laughing all the way to the bank… and immortality…

Yea… life is quite f-ed up! Thanks to the bleeding hypocrites that you meet everyday! Are you one?!? I thought I was one! I maybe one. A hypoc. ie.! I think all of us have had moments of weakness when we've given in. Some of us aren't very good at being hypocrites and that's a nice thing.

But all said and done, it still remains a rat rase! See how I misspelled race?!? 😛

I'm glad you are still an idealist. That breed is a rarity and what you describe — rat race et al, a common place.

“When I have everything, you have only your values, and not a thing more. And that's all that matters. I'm great when you are not…”

However trite, banal, cliche ridden our Bollywood maybe, there is a little lesson in it too 😉

    Hey SG

Thanks so much! You know, when I say, I am just an idealist, people think I'm oh-not-so practical. And then when I put it in this manner, those ones behave as if that is the only thing to follow! 🙂

    Hey Ravan

Thanks Sid! and welcome “back”… err, don't know, yaar! 😛 🙂

    Hi RSV

    [whispering] Okay!

    Hey Neha

Oh yeah, people! actually that too! 😀
But you don't teach all the tricks of trade to a wide-eyed novice, especially who holds no promise to even learn the basics! 😉 😀

Hi Musings of a lonely traveler

Welcome to MM! It is so good to have you here! 🙂
You are right! But rarely people stop to think of the marathon, focussing only on the sprints!
    Thanks, Md!

    Hi Rashmi

I am glad you are idealist! After all, it is only they who really know what it entails. 🙂
    Thanks!

    Hey Roshmi

You hit the nail on its head! I'd rather be idealistic than anything else… Always aim for the sky, no matter if you don't reach it… at least, you will be with the stars… Right?
    Thanks! 🙂

    Hi Mahesh

    Whoa! Big words! Thanks!
But what I'd say is in the post name! 😉

    Hey Aneet

Some of us has a conscience, stronger than any stronghold that burns them up when being hypocrites… 😀
As for the “rase”, I guess, it's every man to himself, literally! Different views!

    Hi Paritosh

Yup, that is indeed the real thing! Except there is one more: “I'm great when you are not”… you alone being great and successful is not enough, it has to happen when your neighbour (friend, competitor, whatever) has failed or is much worse off! Just a bigger success doesn't suffice! 😉

    Hello BK Chowla-ji

I don't think there is anything wrong with thinking “Me”… but in damning others and principles. I'm totally for looking after self, but never at other's expense.

    Hi Bharathi

    Truth, atripped and naked! 😀

    Hi Madhu

Aaargh! That line did sound to me like that too while writing!! I thought no one else will notice, but if you keep the flow in the read, it does come up like that! Drat! 😦
But your thinking process regarding it, made me happier.
Actually the main idea was the last line: “I'm great when you are not”… read my reply to Paritosh. Success sadly is no more an individual's, it always comes down to comparisons. Has become a combination of “MY Success” and “HIS failure”…
And idealism rarity, and rat-race,common-place… I never thought of it that way! Thanks!! 🙂

    Hiya Avada Kedavra

Well, you being an idealist, I had guessed that! And am glad for it! After all you ARE the sciece freak!! 😀
    Thanks, hubby;ji!! 😉 😀
